Take up the reins and horseback ride through the Konavle valley. Feel the soul nourishing bond with Icelandic horses, while trotting through Dubrovnik’s picturesque countryside; its meadows, rivers, home to a flourishing wildlife. Refresh the afternoon with a dip in the river Ljuta, or just rest at the banks while the horses play in the water. Experienced riders are invited to swim with their horses.
Enjoy 30 minutes’ panoramic drive from Dubrovnik (see pickup locations here) to Bio Konavle Ranch in an air-conditioned minivan. Our driver will make a short break at famous spot overlooking Old Town Dubrovnik and its surroundings to give a perfect photo opportunity. Upon arriving at the Ranch, your guide (wrangler) will take you through a brief orientation to riding experience. She’ll be in charge of matching you with the horse that will bring out the best horseback rider in you. Due to the intimate size of our herd here at Bio Konavle, you’ll be riding with in a small group. This gives you a unique chance to make a deeper connection with your horse, and maybe even find a new best friend. You’ll be riding cold blooded Icelandic horse, around 140 cm tall, very popular among beginners for being easy-going and friendly. We let them spend most of the days relaxed in the meadows, treating them almost as members of the family. Therefore, we kindly ask you to show them the same respect. We’ll start the tour with an easy ride through Konavle valley following narrow paths through seas of wild flower meadows, pine forests, scattered vineyards and farms. Enjoy a three hours ride through breath-taking sceneries, trot across open range and feel the sweet smelling sea breeze in your face. We’ll make a stop at River Ljuta, were you can water your horse, splash or even swim with him, depending of your previous experience and skills. So, jump off and tie your horse to take a dip in the refreshing water or lay back and rest under the shade of a tree. After the short break at the river, we’ll get back on our horses and slowly pace back to Bio Konavle Ranch, sit down, have a snack and share our experiences. Don’t forget to give your email to the tour guide so she can send you the photos from the tour.
